We all envision the day that we can watch TV online without jumping through a bunch of hoops and give us the same ease of use that we are accustomed to when watching TV at home. USTVnow is an online service that is as close to this vision as it gets; that includes all major terrestrial stations that an American citizen or resident would normally receive. The FREE version gives you LIVE streaming access to stations such as ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC, PBS, and My9 in high resolution for 45 days. After the 45 days, it drops to low resolution. You have the option to upgrade to a paid plan, which includes the aforementioned networks; PLUS, additional top cable TV channels. I tried USTVnow; and, at high resolution, you cannot beat it. I haven’t experienced it at low resolution yet. After I discovered USTVnow, which has been streaming live TV on or before 2012, I was wondering How Is This Legal? Anyhow, thought I would share this with you and let you decide…

[FEATURED GEEK SQUEAK] Fix For Windows 8 Logo Not Centered On Boot Up – Recently, after upgrading the video driver software for my video card, I noticed that when I booted my computer (which is a Windows 8 based system), the Windows 8 logo (and visual animated indicator) was not centered on the screen. There appeared to be nothing else on the PC that was affected.
Windows 8 Boot Logo Off Center
Being the anal PC geek that I am, I had to find the fix for this. What I discovered there was limited accurate information available. As a result I had to resort to my geek instincts, which in the past, has gotten me into trouble (but, that is how you learn).
Based on my geek instincts, here is what I did to fix the issue (for a Windows 8 box):
I booted to the Windows 8 desktop (as I normally would do). At the desktop, I right mouse click and selected screen resolution from the menu. At the Screen Resolution Window, I selected the Resolution Drop Down Menu and selected the lowest resolution possible. In my case the lowest resolution possible was 1024 x 768. I click on OK first to get a visual of things. Once I got a visual that at that 1024 x 768 resolution was indeed off center and that I had a way out; I clicked on Apply. After I clicked on Apply my screen was now set at 1024 x 768 and my screen was off center. Beware, at that resolution, things will look bigger and weird with a grainy look. To bring things back to center, I used the Auto Adjust Feature (button) on my monitor and voila’ I was back on center. I then right mouse clicked in the middle of the desktop, selected screen resolution from the menu. At the Screen Resolution Window, I selected the Resolution Drop Down Menu and selected the recommended resolution of 1920 x 1080. I then clicked on OK, then Apply and my screen resolution was back to normal.
Now the real test… I re-booted and my Windows 8 logo (and visual animated indicator) was back where it should be in the middle of the screen. I can now sleep better : )
