Here Is How To Manually Initiate The Windows 10 Creators Update

April 11, 2017

Typically those in the IT field will not immediately download an OS upgrade (or major update) until there is assurance all the bugs and problems have been worked out; HOWEVER, if you are one of the brave you can NOW download the Windows 10 Creators Update. As a general rule of thumb, backup your personal files.

CLICK HERE and you will be taken to Microsoft’s site where you can download the Update Assistant.

Windows 10 Creators Update

Once you download and run the Update Assistant, the update process will begin with the update files being downloaded to your PC (which will take some time). While the update files are being downloaded you can continue doing what you were doing on your PC; however, when performing updates (or upgrades) such as this, I typically do not do anything. Once the update files have been downloaded, the actual update process will automatically begin (which will also take some considerable time, so be patient).

Geek Squeaks #2015-10 @ What’s On My PC (Featuring: A Back Door Way To Get The Windows 10 Upgrade Immediately and MORE)

August 10, 2015

How To Get The Windows 10 Upgrade Immediately – There is always a back door way… The Windows Club in their article, “When will I get Windows 10? We’re validating Windows 10 for your PC …” explains about a little known registry edit that will jump start the installation. I do recommend that if you edit the registry to always make a backup of the registry and if you never have edited the registry before, you may want to wait for your Windows 10 upgrade or download (and run) the media creation tool

PC Optimization and Cleaning Tool – Almost everyone out there knows about CCleaner. If you don’t, you are missing out on one of the most trusted cleaners out there. Run CCleaner on a regular basis and I guarantee you that you will notice a difference in the performance of the your computer…

CCleaner

A Take On The Windows 10 Groove Music App – You may have noticed that when you went to play a music (or sound) file in Windows 10 you were greeted with something different (than Windows Media Player), called Groove Music. Personally, I do not think this a bad thing; however, when change occurs, especially in the computer world, people threaten to jump off the local bridge. To keep you from doing just that (jumping off a bridge), make sure you go to the How To Geek and learn “How to Add and Organize Music on Windows 10 Using the Groove Music App“…

Fujikam FI-361 HD, Wifi, Video Monitoring Camera (surveillance and security) – Typically when I see these types of cameras that allow you to monitor your personal property, home, pets, etc… from your Smart Phone, Tablet, or PC, I usually find a mixed bag of comments that drive the customer reviews down. The Fujikam FI-361 is one of those exceptions where the customer reviews has kept this camera at a near 5 star rating and is currently rated as a number one best seller at Amazon. Using XP or Vista? Appears There Is A Workaround Available For You To Get A FREE Windows 10 Upgrade

June 21, 2015

Found this at Lifehacker, that may be of interest to you XP and Vista users. If you install the Windows 10 Preview on your Windows XP or Vista computer, establish a valid Microsoft account, you will then be eligible for the Windows 10 upgrade (for FREE).

As Microsoft details on its Windows blog, if you’re running the Windows 10 Technical Preview as part of the Windows Insider Program, and you have a valid Microsoft account connected to your installation, you’ll be upgraded to Windows 10 for free. If you’re already in the program, future builds will prompt you to connect your Microsoft account if you haven’t already done so.

While this is good news for those on the preview builds, it’s also a handy workaround for anyone who might be getting left behind when the free upgrades start rolling out. — source: Lifehacker

If interested in exploring the option of installing the Windows 10 preview, Lifehacker also can help you out with instructions on performing the installation, as well — CLICK HERE

Of course, make sure your computer meets the Windows 10 system requirements. Not sure?  CLICK HERE to get those requirements.

Revive An Old PC or Laptop With The Transcend Information 256 GB SATA III SSD370

May 3, 2015

Recently, I had an older Windows 7 based Toshiba Laptop given to me in exchange for removing the personal data off of the drive. The laptop was suffering some other issues, as well;  that I was able to fix. The laptop is approximately 5 years old and came at a time when I was giving my brother a another computer I had, to install in his man-cave (garage)… The Toshiba became my own man-cave (garage) computer, after upgrading the computer with a Solid State Drive.

To breathe new life into this laptop I installed the Transcend Information 256 GB SATA III 6 Gb/s 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive. For the money, it was a no-brainer. The difference this upgrade made was very noticeable (faster boot time, faster program loads, and a faster internet experience).

A nice thing about the SSD370, is that it includes a 3.5-inch mounting kit, consisting of a bay adapter and 8 mounting screws (in the event you decide to install this drive in a desktop computer). Once attached to the chassis, you can use the 2.5-inch SSD370 in the standard 3.5-inch space.
